Key Committees

In addition to committees and working parties that may be established for specific purposes from time to time, the following key committees have been established to assist the Commission in the performance of its functions.

  • Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee
    The purpose of the Aboriginal Education Advisory Committee is to assist the Commission in developing policies to improve the quality of education for Aboriginal students and to promote Aboriginal culture and history to both Aboriginal and Non Aboriginal students.
  • Audit and Risk Management Committee
    The Audit and Risk Management Committee assists the Commission in fulfilling its governance responsibilities, in particular by focusing on risk mitigation strategies, monitoring external and internal audit functions, and compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Education Policy Committee
    The Education Policy Committee assists the Commission in the areas of education policy, research and dissemination of education advice, submissions to government on key education issues and the oversight of targeted education programs.
  • Executive Committee
    The Executive Committee assists the Commission in the efficient management of the CEC between Commission meetings. In particular, when urgent issues or deadlines arise and it is not practical for the Chairman or Deputy Chairperson to call a Special Commission meeting.
  • Public Policy Committee
    The Public Policy Committee assists the Commission in the areas of advocacy and representation on behalf of Catholic schools, including Government financial support.
  • Resources Policy Committee
    The Resources Policy Committee assists the Commission in the areas of school funding policy and coordination and in decisions or recommendations on the distribution of recurrent and capital grants from the Australian and NSW governments and in the oversight of those programs.
